PM asks Church to help mend broken Britain
The Prime Minister says faith leaders have a ‘key role’ to play in creating a ‘more responsible society’. In an article for black church magazine Keep the Faith, David Cameron wrote about the need for a ‘greater sense of right and wrong’.
In the latest issue, which focuses on the summer riots, Mr Cameron said: ‘I think that faith has a role to play in mending the breakdown of responsibility in our country … For too long in our society we have been unwilling to talk about behaviour and morality.’ In the same magazine,
Revd Ade Amooba of Christian Concern For Our Nation claimed that if the black Christian community was united it could have prevented the riots, and Revd David Shosanya urged churches to donate to youth organisations.

An encouraging start. However, if Davis Cameron wants involvement of the Church in terms of behaviour and morality, is he prepared to allow the Church to speak up on moral issues (which has to include contraversial topics such as abortion & homosexuality), without those speaking out being targets of vilification?
Exactly so.Cameron doesn’t seem to realize that “morality” and “behaviour” spring from a worldview which is markedly different from that expressed by his own cabinet.
